A 200th anniversary doesn’t come around very often – well, once in 200 years in fact! – and any celebration of it has to be special. And so, after many months of planning the summer fete for St John’s was about to become a reality.
But, as many of us know, the best laid plans of mice and men often go adrift and have to be re-laid en route. Having to deal with cancellations, a weather forecast for rain, and the prospect of having too few helpers to run the stalls almost had us running for the nearest mouse hole. Yet God graciously answered all our prayers and made everything work out for the best.
And so we give our grateful thanks for the JAM Puppeteers, Dance Fusion, Jayne Jones, UFO Leisure (visit the UFO website; www.ufoleisureltd.co.uk ),TESCO Community Champion, Hipswell Parish Council, Hipswell CofE Primary School, and all those individuals from Hipswell, Colburn and from St John’s and St Cuthbert’s for their donations or for helping on the day. St John’s church now looks forward to the next celebration, details of which can be found on the Bi-Centenary Celebrations page, by clicking here.
